November often marks a period of transition. It’s often a time for us to pause and check-in with our communities. With that in mind, I’ve curated a short list of action items to help relieve some of the stress you might be feeling around the job search this month.
- Prepare: Take time this month to think about how you’d respond to questions like: “What are your plans after graduation?”, “What’s your next step given your [current transition]?”, or “What do you plan to do with your major?”
- Practice: It’s never too early to prepare for your next professional or informational interview. Try using Big Interview to refine your responses before the pressure is on.
- Explore: Not sure what you want to do or how to gain exposure to different fields? Check out Forage for free virtual job simulations that let you “test-drive” different industries.
- Rest: Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a break and recalibrate. If the job search feels overwhelming, take a moment to reflect on your goals and how you’d like to achieve them.
Quick Note: When I suggest you prepare, please remember that you own your narrative. You don’t have to sound impressive or have everything figured out. It’s okay to say, “Here’s what I’m working on right now,” or “I’ve taken these steps toward finding a clearer way forward” The key is to keep making progress in whatever ways you can.
