January’s Job Search To Do List

1 Minute Read

For many, this week signals the return to work and/or student life. If you’re not looking forward to it, my heart goes out to you. But the time is coming… so let’s prepare together.

If you’re looking for new opportunities, start the year with the intention of bringing your goals to reality. Please remember that you’re never alone in this process.

  • Review: Look back through previous Job Search To-Do Lists and resources. Wherever you are in the process, there’s something there to help you move forward. Links included below.
  • Partner: Identify your accountability partner(s). Don’t overthink this! Choose someone who motivates you, shares similar goals, and/or helps you stay honest. Don’t treat this ask casually though. Be clear about your goals and how they can support you.
  • Schedule: Consider calling in some professional support. You might benefit from an appointment with a Career Services professional via Handshake.
  • Accept: If things aren’t going as planned, accept it. It may be time to switch it up. Ask yourself: What can I do differently to bring my goals to fruition? What deserves more of my attention? Are my goals still the same?

Consider booking an appointment with a Career Advisor or reach out to someone you trust for support. Every action item listed above can be supported by the incredible team at the Career Center.

P.S. Everything I share is focused on helping you explore opportunities in the United States.
