March’s Job Search To Do List

1 Minute Read

Let’s keep this month ultra simple. If you’ve been searching for a while, I imagine you’re hitting roadblocks, questioning your motivation, and/or wondering what you could be doing differently to make it all work. That’s normal. This process is stressful. Searching for a new role takes time, perseverance, and creative thinking in most cases. So, what can you do?

  • Connect: Spend additional time this month connecting with people in the industry or industries you’re interested in. What can they tell you about finding opportunities, roles connected to the work you’d like to do, or broader trends that might impact your experience?
  • Specialize: Start looking for dedicated job boards in the industries you care about. I’ve had a few conversations with people lately who forgot that there are job boards for almost every industry. If you haven’t found one for the type of work you’re pursuing, comment and I’ll see if I can help.
  • Commit: Execute. Execute. Execute. Don’t overthink it. If you’re a recovering perfectionist, chasing perfect doesn’t put your hat in the ring. Make your current draft “good enough” and hit submit or send the outreach message. You might notice this one from last month’s list. Execution is the only way to bring your goals to reality. Don’t psych yourself out of the game before you’ve even started.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Please remember that you’re never alone in this process. Consider booking an appointment with a Career Advisor or reach out to someone you trust for support. Every action item listed above can be supported by the incredible team at the Career Center.

P.S. Everything I share is focused on helping you explore opportunities in the United States but can apply elsewhere.
