May’s Job Search To Do List

1 Minute Read

As we enter this season of transition, I want to wish a huge congratulations to all the graduates!

This time of year is often filled with celebrations, deadlines, applications, laughter, goodbyes, and so much more. So, these suggestions are focused on inviting a bit more positive energy into your day-to-day. If you try one of these, let me know how it felt.

✅ Watch: Watch the video The 3 Adjectives That Determine How Far You Go at Work and decide which three adjectives you want to embody in your day-to-day behaviors. While Carla Harris frames her examples in a professional context, I believe this advice can extend to all areas of your life.

✅ Try: Try something different. Instead of leaning further into the urgency, take a step back. Consider scheduling time with someone at the Career Center or someone you trust. Share what’s been working, where you’re feeling stuck, and what you haven’t tried yet.

✅ Write: Write a letter to someone who’s made a positive impact on you. Tell them why that moment stayed with you and what it taught you. Then send it or call them and read it aloud.

✅ Pep Talk: Call the Peptoc hotline, which features life advice and positive messages from elementary school kids in California.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Please remember that you’re never alone in this process. Consider booking an appointment with a Career Advisor or reach out to someone you trust for support. Every action item listed above can be supported by the incredible team at the Career Center.

P.S. Everything I share is focused on helping you explore opportunities in the United States but can apply elsewhere.
