2 Minute Read
I’ve been on vacation for a few weeks, so this month’s post is coming a bit later than normal. This is also me trying to practice what I preach a bit.
If you see something from the previous month, give it some additional time this month. Trust me.
✅ Pause: Time to give yourself a breather. You control your level of urgency, but we all know pushing harder with no break does little to lead to better outcomes. Give yourself a day or two to breathe, recalibrate, and then return to the process with fresh eyes and a clearer mind.
✅ Commit: Don’t overthink it or build a laundry list of ideas. Pick one thing that gets you closer to your goal and act. One idea at a time.
✅ Read: The last thing I’d hate to see is someone spend hours refining their resume and cover letter but little to no time developing the story they want to tell. Don’t lose the room after you’ve worked so hard to get there. Check out this article, “Seven Storytelling Tips to Stand Out in Your Job Search,” and think about the experiences you want people to remember.
✅ Vent: This one may feel unconventional but consider asking someone you trust to listen while you talk through your frustrations and ideas. Let them know whether you’re looking for solutions or simply need space to process. Then decide on your next move.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Please remember that you’re never alone in this process. Consider booking an appointment with a Career Advisor or reach out to someone you trust for support. Every action item listed above can be supported by the incredible team at the Career Center.
P.S. Everything I share is focused on helping you explore opportunities in the United States but can be applied elsewhere
