Receive your offer

Congratulations! You’ve received an offer. Prepare for this moment of celebration so you can have a productive conversation with the offering employer. Offers may come as a verbal offer first, followed by a written offer. Or a written offer as the first communication point.

✅  Prepare what you will say (or write) when receiving a verbal offer. Here are a few suggestions to boost your confidence.

✅  Common components include: 

    • expressing appreciation and/or excitement for the offer
    • asking for time to consider the offer
    • communicating when and how you will get in touch with the employer next 

✅  Practice your response when receiving the offer with peers, family, and Career Coaches. Determine questions may want to ask when the offer is initially given such as:

    • deadline for giving an answer
    • asking when a written offer will be provided if the offer is given verbally
