Spend time with news and trends

Spending time with news and trends are essential to staying current with, and being able to speak intelligently about, your interests, roles, organizations, and fields. This task will also help you test assumptions you have about your interests.

✅  Use some of Duke’s business intelligence tools to see a survey of headlines on a topic and remember to request help and ask a reference librarian to be your guide.

✅  Take note of whether the topics and news related to a job or internship interest you. Alternatively, find jobs or internships where the topics and news that already interest you are shared interests with your colleagues.

✅  Set alerts with your favorite news and trends sites to keep up with current stories.
