The North Carolina Outreach Intern will work closely with the North Carolina Engagement Manager to assist in various initiatives and campaigns in the state. The role will help in the development and growth of the North Carolina satellite office by bringing more awareness and reach to CAIR’s services.
Responsibilities:
- Outreach
- Help the Engagement Manager build & foster relationships with NC masajids & MSAs.
- Assist in locating, booking, organizing, and staffing outreach tables at local community events to increase CAIR’s visibility
- Assist in identifying opportunities for community engagement and donor development
- Events support
- Assist with outreach and logistics for large events
- Volunteer management
- Be a connection between MSAs and other student groups who wish to volunteer for CAIR in NC
- Maintain volunteer database and follow up with interested community members
- Help plan activities to strengthen relationship with interns and volunteers
- Online engagement support
- Assist in growing presence on social media
- Developing content to be shared on social media and other communication platforms that highlights the work of the North Carolina team
- Other administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
· Friendly and outgoing
· Comfortable with public speaking
· Demonstrates the ability to follow through on assigned tasks and complete in a timely manner
· Experience engaging with the Muslim community
· Knowledgeable of the issues facing the North Carolina Muslim community
· Passionate about community engagement and social justice
· Access to a car preferred
Requirements:
· The position is a part-time opportunity, with expected hours to be approximately 5-10 hours a week
· Much of the work can be done remotely, but requires some in person activities such as staffing events, outreach at masjids, etc
