Healthcare Data Engineer Internship (Fall 2026)

Overview The CITE Foundation is developing multi‑therapeutic registries and a Return on Engagement (ROE) model that integrates clinical workflow, community insight, and patient‑journey analytics. We are seeking junior or senior undergraduate students or graduate students with training in health informatics, biomedical data science, or related fields to support registry development with a focus on healthcare data standards.
Role Summary The Healthcare Data Engineer Intern will support registry alignment with clinical data structures, including EHR‑like elements, FHIR resources, and OMOP conventions. This role is ideal for students interested in healthcare data engineering, interoperability, and clinical workflow‑aligned data systems.
Key Responsibilities Work with EHR‑like data elements and clinical data structures. Map registry components to FHIR and OMOP standards. Support interoperability and alignment with clinical workflows. Assist with data validation, quality checks, and documentation. Collaborate with the Registry Team and Clinical Workflow Team.
Minimum Qualifications Junior or Senior undergraduate student or graduate student. GPA 3.5 or higher (required). Coursework in health informatics, biomedical data science, or related fields. Experience with Python or SQL. Interest in healthcare data systems or clinical workflows.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with EHR data (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.). Familiarity with FHIR, OMOP, HL7, or related standards. Understanding of clinical workflows or patient‑journey data. Ability to translate healthcare data concepts into structured technical outputs.
