About Us:
Mindful Warrior Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military couples who are struggling with infertility. We offer compassionate, trauma-informed mental health counseling to military members facing fertility-related issues. As part of our mission, we provide 6 free counseling sessions to military service members and their spouses to help navigate the emotional, psychological, and relational challenges that come with infertility.
We are seeking dedicated, empathetic, and motivated counseling interns to join our team as part of our internship program. Interns will work under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional to provide support to military couples coping with infertility.
Internship Overview:
The Mindful Warrior Alliance Counseling Internship offers a valuable opportunity for pre-licensed or provisionally licensed mental health clinicians to gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive and mission-driven environment. Interns will provide counseling services to military personnel and their spouses who are dealing with the emotional, relational, and psychological effects of infertility, all while receiving mentorship and guidance from a licensed supervisor. It is your responsibility to have your own outside supervisor, although we may be able to help match you with on if needed.
This is a unique opportunity to work with a population that requires specialized care and mental health support, and will allow interns to develop skills in infertility counseling, trauma-informed care, and military family dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and couples counseling services to military members and their spouses, focusing on infertility and fertility-related challenges.
- Conduct assessments and create treatment plans based on clients’ needs, with a focus on mental health, relationship issues, and coping strategies for infertility.
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records in compliance with ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
- Participate in regular supervision and receive clinical guidance from a licensed supervisor.
- Attend team meetings, case consultations, and trainings as required.
- Support military couples in processing emotional distress related to infertility, grief, anxiety, and relationship stress.
- Incorporate mindfulness-based approaches and evidence-based interventions in your therapeutic work, tailored to the unique needs of military families.
- Abide by all confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional guidelines related to mental health counseling and therapy.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate degree in psychotherapy, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Enrolled in your practicum/working toward clinical hours

Licensure:
- Pre-Licensed/License Eligible: Must be in the process of completing a graduate program and be enrolled in clinical practicum or internship.
- Responsibility for Supervision: It is the responsibility of the intern to secure a licensed clinical supervisor for their internship period. This supervision must be maintained throughout their time participating in the program.
- Must provide a signed supervision contract outlining your internship arrangement with your licensed supervisor.

Skills and Experience:
- Strong interest in working with military families and understanding the unique challenges they face.
- Experience or coursework in infertility, trauma-informed care, couples therapy, or working with high-stress environments is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to counseling.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality standards.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently under supervision.
- Familiarity with mindfulness-based practices and evidence-based interventions (preferred).
