About the role
Are you always on TikTok? Do you follow the news about what’s happening in our country right now? Do you want to make a difference and advocate for causes you care about ahead of November’s election?
Drumbeat Labs is hiring a community fellow/creator to produce a batch of short-form videos for a pro-democracy advocacy campaign on TikTok and Instagram. This is a contract engagement ideal for students who can produce native social content that engages audiences and performs well.
What you’ll do
- Create and grow a new TikTok and Instagram account (or post to an existing personal account, whichever you choose).
- Create and post consistent short-form videos every week in accordance with guidelines and inspiration provided by our team.
Compensation
$1,000 monthly retainer, plus up to $3,000 in additional performance-based bonuses (total earning potential of $4,000 per month).
What we’re looking for
- You live on TikTok and it shows — deep familiarity with the algorithm and trends that comes from actually scrolling, posting, and paying attention.
- Passion for mission-driven advocacy, nonprofit, or civic work — this isn’t just a content gig, we want someone who’s genuinely excited to discuss issues and causes you believe in online.
- A commitment to factual and authentic civic engagement — you know how to evaluate online information sources, represent yourself honestly on social media, and care about getting your facts right and keeping your community informed.
- A sharp instinct for hooks and pacing — you know what makes someone stop scrolling in the first 1-2 seconds, and how to hold them for the full video.
- Reliable, consistent output — able to deliver on a regular posting cadence for the full engagement period, not just in bursts.
- Comfortable showing your face on camera
- An iPhone with good camera quality
