How Corporations are Becoming the Driving Force Behind the U.S. Grid Achieving 100 Percent Carbon-Free Electricity

Globally, corporations have purchased nearly 150 gigawatts of clean energy over the past 15 years, with about half of that taking place in the U.S.  With such large amounts of clean energy being purchased, corporations are playing an enormous role in helping to decarbonize the national grid.

But achieving the goal of 100 percent carbon-free electricity will require more collaboration between companies, utilities, and grid operators to meet the modern-day challenges of clean energy transmission.  Jeff St. John from Canary Media, explores how the Zero Emissions, Reliability Optimized Grid (ZEROgrid) Initiative plans to address these challenges by promoting “a collaborative new framework that hopes to accelerate the transition to a reliable and affordable zero emissions electric grid.”
