Jason Mayden’s return to Jordan Brand: A journey filled with passion and design!

by Roastbrief

Good news! Jason Mayden is back at Jordan Brand as the new Director of Design. Previously, he served as the president of Fear of God Athletics for two years. But before that, he spent nearly 14 years at Nike Inc.! He began there in 2001 and left in 2014 as the Senior Global Design Director for Jordan Brand.

After Nike, he remained deeply involved in the footwear and fashion world. He worked on projects such as the Air Jordan 2009 and the Air Jordan 24. Between Nike and Fear of God Athletics, he focused on his own company and even taught at the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy at USC. In 2017, he founded the children’s shoe brand Super Heroic and his own design collective, Trillicon Valley.

He parted ways with Fear of God under Jerry Lorenzo just before Lorenzo started working with adidas. In fact, Mayden’s aim at Fear of God Athletics was to maintain the brand’s independence and product diversity.

On his private Instagram account, he shared the news: “I’m excited to return to @jumpman23 as Chief Design Officer! It’s been an amazing 23 years since I started as a design intern. Looking back and seeing the journey to this point is astounding. Remembering my childhood dreams in South Chicago is surreal. We’ve come so far and nothing can stop us!…”
