“Be open to possibilities. I believe some students come to college with a specific career path in mind and limit the opportunities and experiences they participate in because they are building their resume with a fixed end in mind. Although that may work for some, it is not always the best path. I recommend students keep an open mind to different areas of study and on/off campus experiences to broaden their horizons and help make an informed decision on their career path. Duke has limitless possibilities for what you can do and you never know what career opportunities are out there if you don’t allow yourself to explore. You may arrive at Duke with one career in mind, but you may end up going a completely different direction and that’s part of the fun.”
